Glossary - non-government schools

Block Grant Authority
Block Grant Authorities (BGAs) are independent bodies responsible for assessing non-government schools funding viability, making funding recommendations to DEEWR and administering funding for school projects under the Capital Grants (CGP) and Investing in Our Schools (IOSP) Programs.  Each state has a BGA to represent Catholic schools and another to represent Independent schools.  ACT and NT have combined BGAs for both Catholic and Independent schools.

School communities
A school community is defined as a school that is recognised by its State/Territory Government as being a school, that has permanently enrolled students, and that has its own school community comprising parents, teachers, friends, former students, counsellors/social workers and other people who are connected with the school.
