Non-government schools

The Investing in Our Schools Programme was an initiative of the previous government which was intended to run for the 2005-2008 schools funding quadrennium.

The Investing in Our Schools Programme provided $354 million to non-government schools to fund projects identified and prioritised by school communities.  Of the $354m allocated to non-government schools, $154m was set aside for projects up to $75,000.

To date 2,529 (as at October 2008) non-government schools have had projects approved for funding with funding continuing to be provided to successful schools during 2008.

For non-government schools, the Block Grant Authorities (BGAs) receive and assess applications from non-government schools, make recommendations to the Minister and administer grants for participating schools.  BGAs were required to submit schedules of recommended projects for 2008 to the Australian Government by 31 October 2007.  Program funding will cease on 31 December 2008.

Schools can seek further information about applying for grants under IOSP from the Programme Guidelines for Non-Government Schools  and their Block Grant Authority.
